  • Radcliff Woman’s Club members travel to Versailles

    On April 25, Radcliff Woman’s Club members Frances Johnson, Pat Nuccitelli, Ethel Martin, Anne Aubrey, Janice Demaree, Marilyn Williams, Pat Crosby, Florence Mason and Sheila Enyart, accompanied by Andy Kelly, took a two-hour drive to Versailles to visit Irish Acres Gallery and to have lunch at its Glitz restaurant.
    Upon arriving at their destination, club members were met by Betty Hughes-Gillespie, who now lives near Irish Acres.

  • Garden Club of Elizabethtown members gather for May meeting

    The May meeting of the Garden Club of Elizabethtown featured guest speaker Karen Angelucci. Angelucci is an author, master gardener and Lexington Garden Club member. Her book, “Secrets of a Kentucky Gardener”, was the basis of her program during which she shared practical, easy-to-follow advice and helpful tips on gardening in Kentucky.
    Guests are welcome at meetings, which are at 10 a.m. the first Thursday of each month in the ballroom of the Brown-Pusey House.

    If you ask any 4-H alumni to name one of the most valuable life skills they learned during their 4-H careers, many would list the confidence gained through participating in communications projects. 4-H youth development strives to equip the young people with the knowledge and skills they need to become successful adults. Effective communication and public speaking skills are vital to tomorrow’s leaders.

    Stacey Winchester of Cecilia and Joshua Camp of Vine Grove announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage. The bride-to-be is the daughter of Phillip and Denise Winchester of Cecilia and is a graduate of Elizabethtown Technical and Community College and is employed at Helmwood Health Care in Elizabethtown as a certified nursing assistant.
    The prospective groom is the son of David and Patricia Camp of Vine Grove and is employed at Enprotech Mechanical as a machinist.
    The wedding is at 4 p.m. Sept. 20, 2014, at the couple’s home with a reception to follow.

    Miranda Rene Goldsmith and Derek Brian Gillenwater were married May 21, 2014, in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, with Pastor Rick York officiating.
    The bride is the daughter of Barry and Debbie Goldsmith of Elizabethtown.
    The groom is the son of Kenny and Marcella Gillenwater of Elizabethtown.
    A beachside reception with family and friends followed the ceremony.
    Following their return from the Dominican Republic, the couple reside in Texas.

  • Riches celebrate 50th anniversary

    Roy and Brenda Rich of Elizabethtown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 5, 2014.
    They were married June 5, 1964, at Great Crossing Baptist Church in Georgetown.
    Mr. Rich served in the Air Force from 1953 to 1957. After graduating from Campbellsville College, he became pesticide director for the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.
    Mrs. Rich was an administrative assistant in the education, natural resources and health departments for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
